Did you know that The Salvation Army has summer camps all over the nation? In fact, we staff and run nearly 48 camps across the country! Just like many summer camps, our kids get to experience the ropes course, songs by the campfire, activities and crafts!

But unlike many camps across the nation, our kiddos get these amazing experiences for only $35/child.

In general, the American Camp Association says that the average weekly cost of an overnight camp is $690. It could, however, cost as much as $2,000 a week.* Our campers are sent for $210 dollars/week, and the parents are asked to contribute $35 of that total for registration.

This summer, we are thrilled to be sending 31 children to camp! Why send them to summer camp, you may ask? Here’s a few reasons why sending kids to camp, especially low-income children who may not otherwise have this opportunity, is valuable!**

  • Camp helps build self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Camp is a safe environment
  • Camp is a place to build social skills and make friends
  • Camp can help kids increase in independence and show more leadership skill
  • Camp is a fun place to build friendships feel more socially comfortable
